Canvas Agency opens in Toronto

A new artist representation firm called The Canvas Agency has launched in Toronto. The company specializes in creative visual artists, photographers and illustrators. Its clients are primarily in the beauty, fashion, design and music industries. Canvas was founded by Michaela Peker, most recently a freelance production coordinator. She has also worked for UK-based Chapterspeople and Probation.
"Canvas grew organically from the recognition that the eyes of the world are on Toronto talent right now, but there was no one really connecting the dots and creating those opportunities for global clients and Toronto talent to link up," said Peker. "I could see a clear need for a new breed of artist agency in the city, one with an international outlook and a start-up mentality, which is when The Canvas Agency was born. Being small, we are able to be selective with our roster and represent the very best visual talent that Toronto has to offer. It's incredibly exciting to be at the centre of Toronto's thriving creative scene and to be able to work with so many global brands."
