Wine Marketing Association readies icewine promotion

The Wine Marketing Association of Ontario is preparing an annual promotion in support of the province's icewine producers. Called "Niagara's Icewine Festival," the promotion will take place over three weekends, beginning with an event on Jan. 12 at the Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls. It will include wine tastings and food pairings, along with live entertainment. Promotional street events will also take place in Jordan Village, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls during January. Icewine is made from grapes that have been allowed to freeze on their vines.
"Ontario's icewine harvest is a magical time and what better way to celebrate than by visiting wine country Ontario during the Niagara Icewine Festival this January," said Sylvia Augaitis, executive director of marketing at the association. "This signature celebration offers wine lovers a taste of something that is quintessentially Canadian while enjoying the beauty of winter in wine country."
