LCBO PROMOTES NOUVEAU WINES
By Adnews Staff
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario will introduce seven 1996 nouveau wines to its stores next week. Nouveau wines are the first to be released from the new vintage each year, celebrating the completion of the harvest. Along with the French Beaujolais Nouveau wines, many stores will also sell two Vino Novello wines from Italy and an Ontario Gamay Nouveau. Nouveau wines are produced by a process called carbonic macertion. Grapes are placed uncrushed in vats and allowed to ferment while their skins are still intact. The grapes are then pressed to produce a fresh, fruity wine. The wines are being promoted using media relations done in-house.
