Rouge Media signs beacon agreement with Blue Bite

Rouge Media of Toronto has formed an agreement with Blue Bite of New York to incorporate its mobile beacon system into Rouge's inventory of out-of-home displays. The beacons will be added to displays at approximately 5,000 venues in North America. Consumers carrying Bluetooth-enabled smartphones within range of these displays will receive advertising messages based on their locations. The displays will also incorporate near-field communications and quick response codes which consumers can use to access additional information.

"With the quickly-evolving industry and ubiquitous mobile behaviour, we recognized the necessity to provide brands with a well-rounded media platform through integral touch points that take place in both the physical and digital spaces while consumers are on their smartphones within our high-mobile usage networks," said Alison Jacobs, executive vice-president of Rouge Media. "Beacon technology is a seamless link with our current media offering, as it provides advertisers with extended engagement into the digital space. This capability also enables us to provide our clients with data that they can leverage for existing and future strategy."
