VisitFlanders conducts WWI initiative in Toronto

Belgian tourism organization VisitFlanders conducted a promotion in Toronto on Aug. 4 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One. Promotional workers dressed as paperboys of the period distributed a publication called the Flanders Fields Post in downtown Toronto. The newspaper contained articles about the battles fought in the region, as well as information about the Flanders of today. Similar initiatives were conducted in Manchester, UK and Dublin , Ireland.

"This is an important time of remembrance in Canada and around the world,” said Line Vreven, director and regional manager for North America at VisitFlanders. "Through the commemorative Flanders Fields Post, we invite Canadians to experience Flanders' multi-year centenary program that honours those who fell in the region during the First World War, 14,000 of which were Canadians."
