J.D. POWER RATINGS

For the third year in a row Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus, Nissan Motor Co.'s Infinite and the Saturn from General Motors have taken the top three spots in the J.D. Power and Associates Car Satisfaction Index. Honda Motor's Acura and Volvo AB of Sweden both tied for fourth spot in the 1995 listing. The annual survey measures owner satisfaction after one year. It reflects how owners feel about the way they were treated by their dealership, as well as their experience with their vehicles. Overall, the car business had a satisfaction index score of 138 in 1995, three points better than last year. Light truck satisfaction was 142 points, up six points from 1994. On the light truck side, Toyota got top honors, replacing Chrysler's Town & Country minivan. Honda, which had no 1994 light trucks, came in second place for its Passport sport utility vehicle. Chrysler's Eagle line of sedan and coupes was below industry average, but posted the biggest index gain with a rise of 17 points. GM's Geo line, which is also below industry standard, had a gain of 15 points.
