PRODUCT PROMOTES SCHOOL BUS SAFETY

Canadian Marconi Company of Saint-Laurent, Que. became the exclusive Canadian distributor last week of Forewarn, a safety device made by Delco Electronics Corp. of Kokomo, Indiana. Forewarn is an object detection system that uses microwave radar technology to detect motion within certain danger areas surrounding a school bus. If a moving child is detected in front of the bus, or on the curb side underneath the bus, the system will warn the driver. It engages whenever the bus' stop-arm is extended and the bus is stopped. Trade advertising for Forewarn will begin sometime in the fall, created in-house. The product will also be promoted at trade shows. The first Forewarn customer is the Laurenval School Board of Laval, Quebec. Canadian Marconi designs, manufactures and sells high-technology electronic products for the aerospace and communications market. Forewarn has been on the U.S. market for two years.
