Pilot PMR launches documentary unit

Toronto-based Pilot PMR has launched a documentary unit intended to "tell corporate and brand stories from an authentic point of view," according to the company. The unit will employ journalists and documentary filmmakers on a project basis to create short format videos aimed at online audiences. "The days of the self-promotional corporate video are long gone," said agency president and CEO David Doze. "Audiences today are looking for authentic stories told in context with a compelling point of view. With the popularity of video on the web, there is a huge opportunity for brands to tell their stories in credible and arresting ways. Brand stories remain at the core of everything we do, so documentary storytelling is a natural extension of our work. Canada has a rich history in the documentary genre and we have access to some of the world's best talents."
