Canadian Newcomer goes national

Canadian Newcomer, a magazine aimed at new residents of Canada, has announced a plan to expand its distribution nationally. Since its debut seven years ago, the free publication has been distributed in Ontario. The magazine offers articles about settlement strategies, employment, education, health, lifestyle and culture in Canada. "The most important step for our growth is establishing partnerships with the settlement agencies and ESL classes in order to put copies directly into the hands of new immigrants," said publisher Dale Sproule. "The settlement sector is hungry for resources. After all, they have this enormous task of integrating hundreds of thousands of newcomers every year. That's the population of a small city year after year. Canada needs these people. Provinces like Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan are facing the spectre of a shrinking labour force. Without newcomers, they won't survive economically. That's why Canadian Newcomer anticipates the same penetration in the national marketplace as was achieved in Ontario. It's also an amazing opportunity for municipalities and educational institutions to attract newcomers and for Canadian businesses and corporations to make contact with this huge population influx as they establish brand preferences in Canada."
