Canadian Marketing Association picks new board

The Toronto-based Canadian Marketing Association has selected a new board of directors for the 20011/2012 year. Mitch Joel, president of Twist Image, has been appointed chair of the board. Peg Hunter, vice-president of marketing and communications at Home Depot Canada, has been appointed vice-chair. Other new member of the board include Robin Heisey of Draftfcb, Jeff Lowe of Telus, Chris O'Neill of Google Canada, Sean Taggart of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, Vince Timpano of Groupe Aeroplan Canada and Graeme Whickman of Ford Canada. In related news, the Canadian Marketing Association has made Rob Shields and John Torella honorary life members of the association in recognition of their contributions to the Canadian marketing industry. Shields, who is senior vice-president of marketing and customer at Canadian Tire, has been a member of the CMA board since 2002 and was chair in 2008/2009. Torella, a senior partner and senior consultant at J.C. Williams Group, was a member of the CMA board for six years and chair of the association's branding and strategic planning unit.
