Houston-based Compaq Computer Corp. will add two new series to its Presario family of computers in North America in late August. Called the 4000 and 8000 series, the machines feature arcade quality 3-D graphics, hi-fi stereo sound, fast Internet access and videophone capability. The 4000 Series computers come in an all-in-one design and a minitower version, both with a 15-inch monitors and remote controls. The machines use Intel processors ranging from 120 megahertz to 200 megahertz and six-speed or eight-speed CD-ROMs. The 8000 Series computers have 3-D graphics, and better stereo sound and gaming capabilities. In Canada, national radio advertising for the entire Presario family of computers began earlier this month. It was created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of Toronto. Compaq may also launch a new campaign in Canada in the fall.
