Staples readies back-to-school campaign

Toronto-based office supply retailer Staples Canada will resume its back-to-school campaign "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" next month with a new television commercial developed for Canada. The US campaign is already underway with the company's existing commercial, which was first used 15 years ago. "Over the years, the Most Wonderful Time of the Year commercial has become synonymous with back-to-school," said Steve Matyas, president of Staples Canada. "There is a true nostalgic feeling Canadians get from this campaign. It's hard to believe this spot was last seen on TV in the mid 1990s. Even after all of this time, Canadians still have such fond memories around it. Because of this, we decided the time was right to bring it back and more importantly, create and launch a new edition for the Canadian market to kick off the 2009 back-to-school shopping season."
