MARITMERS DRINK THE MOST TEA

Maritimers drink more regular tea than other Canadians, but British Columbians drink the most herbal tea, according to ACNielsen of Markham,Ont. Maritimers consume an average of 156 tea bags per person a year. Ontario came in second with 89 bags used, with B.C. following at 69. Alberta is the fourth largest province when it comes to tea drinkers, using 58 tea bags per person. Manitoba and Saskatchewan have a combined average of 53 bags. Quebec has the smallest number of tea drinkers with 48 bags used per person. The national average for regular tea drinkers is 77 bags per person. B.C. leads the way in the herbal tea market, with consumers in the province using an average of eight bags per year. Alberta follows with 7% and Manitoba and Saskatchewan combined use an average of four herbal tea bags a year. Ontario and Quebec consumers each use three bags per year. Maritimers aren't as big on herbal tea as they are regular tea. They use an average of two herbal tea bags a year. The national average is four.
