GREYHOUND TO FLY NEXT MONTH
By Adnews Staff
Greyhound Lines of Canada received the go ahead last week from the federal cabinet to launch its airline service. The company will take flight July 8. Originally, Greyhound was to start the airline on May 22, but it was grounded in April by the National Transportation Agency because it didn't have an airline license. Greyhound argued that it didn't need a license because Kelowna Flightcraft Air Charter is operating the airline, and it has a license. Also at issue was Greyhound's ownership. Canadian regulations state that airlines must be 75% controlled by Canadians. Until earlier this month Greyhound was 68.5% owned by Dial Corp. of Phoenix, Arizona. However, the company has restructured leaving Greyhound a publicly traded Canadian company with no majority shareholders. Print and TV advertising for the airline began in March. It was created by Palmer Jarvis Advertising of Vancouver.
