Online DVD rental service Zip.ca has signed on as a sponsor of the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal. The event, which will run from July 6 to 24, specializes in genre films. As well as being a general sponsor, Zip.ca will be the presenting sponsor of two films: Ils and The Echo. “The Fantasia Film Festival highlights films that are not always seen and appreciated by a large audience of moviegoers,” said Rick Anderson, president and CEO of Zip.ca. “We're pleased to do our part to help festival organizers provide a venue and an audience for these films, and we are dedicated to helping filmmakers find a broader audience by featuring them on our site.” Zip.ca is sponsoring a number of Canadian film festivals in 2006, including the Atlantic Film Festival, the Calgary International Film Festival, the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival, the NSI FilmExchange Canadian Film Festival, the Victoria Film Festival and the Documentary Film + Video Festival.
