SKIN CARE COMPANY MAY BE LOOKING FOR AGENCY

Chantal Skin Care Corp. of Los Angeles brought its Ethocyn anti-aging skin cream to Canada last month and may need an ad agency to help promote it, spokesperson Joel Brokaw told Adnews last week. Currently the company does its North American advertising in-house but it may look for an agency to launch a B.C. campaign in August. Last week the company held a casting call in Vancouver to choose 10 people, 35-years and older, to try the skin cream for two months. One person will be chosen to appear in the B.C. TV and print campaign. Chantal will have casting calls in other parts of Canada, including Toronto and Montreal, but a date hasn't been set yet. The company began using a non-actor in its TV and print campaign in the U.S. last fall. One of its accountants, Karen Phillips, decided to do a personal comparison test by using Ethocyn on one side of her face, without telling the company. After two months she showed the difference to Chantal's CEO, who decided to use Phillips in the company's advertising. The ads were launched in Edmonton and Vancouver last week and will go across Canada at a later date.
