Sponsorship roundup

General Motors of Canada of Oshawa, ON opened a promotional outdoor attraction called the GM Winter Park last week as part of the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. The attraction is tied to the company's sponsorship of the Canadian Olympic team. The exhibit includes large ice carvings of athletes engaged in skiing, hockey, luge, bobsled, curling and figure skating, as well as a video screen displaying a live feed of CBC coverage of the games and daily highlights. The exhibit also contains various display vehicles and an ice carving of a Camaro concept car. The attraction will remain in place until Feb. 26. General Motors will sponsor the Canadian Olympic team in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012. The company is also the official automotive sponsor of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Music website RadioLibre.ca, a division of Astral Media Radio of Montreal, has signed on as the title sponsor of an upcoming North American tour by the band Metric. The tour, in support of the band's recent album "Live it Out," will begin today in Toronto. "Sponsoring and supporting one of today's biggest indie-rock bands is part of our overall commitment to Canada's independent music industry and allows us to help home-grown talent generate even more exposure," said Denis Rozon, general manager of RadioLibre.ca.
