Automaker Kia Motors of Seoul, Korea has renewed its sponsorship of the Davis Cup tennis tournament through 2008. The first round of the 2006 event began in 24 countries on Feb. 10. Kia is the competition's worldwide automobile sponsor. The company will supply approximately 300 vehicles annually to the events in participating countries. "The first phase of Kia's partnership with the International Tennis Federation in sponsoring the Davis Cup proved to be valuable in supporting our rapid global expansion while imparting Kia's brand image among tennis fans around the world," said Yong-Hwan Kim, chief operating officer of Kia Motors. "The renewal of our sponsorship can be seen as Kia Motors' desire to get even closer to the fans by broadening our marketing spectrum through stepped-up on-line and on-site promotional activities."
