Brick Brewing hires Ogilvy & Mather

Brick Brewing of Waterloo, ON has retained Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto as its advertising agency. The firm won the account in a selection process involving an unknown number of additional contenders. "Ogilvy's track record with consumer accounts is very impressive," said Norm Pickering, vice-president of marketing at Brick. "Ultimately, it was the range of services that Ogilvy can offer us that made the decision easy for us. That, plus their understanding of our niche in the marketplace." The agency will begin its assignment by providing strategic counsel to the brewery, moving on to a new marketing campaign later in the year. "The new campaign is being developed now," said Laurie Young, managing director of Ogilvy & Mather. "It will undoubtedly involve more than just traditional media advertising. We'll be looking at retail promotion, direct, web and many other avenues to get the message out." Brick's brands included Laker, Red Cap, Formosa Springs Draft and several products sold under the Brick name.
