Wal-Mart breaks holiday campaign
By Adnews Staff
Wal-Mart Canada has begun a national holiday season ad campaign consisting of two television commercials created by Publicis of Toronto. Media buying was handled by ZenithOptimedia. The first ad, called "Operation Hockey," depicts a hockey coach donating money for his team to buy gifts for underprivileged children. The second ad, called "Champagne Santa," shows the employees of a bridal store engaging in a Secret Santa gift exchange. The ads promote Wal-Mart as a retailer that sells a variety of affordable gifts at one location. The campaign also introduces the retailer's new holiday gift card. "We've continued to feature real, heartwarming customer stories in this holiday campaign to communicate the concept of sharing and giving back to the community, in addition to friends and family," said Duncan Bruce, executive creative director at Publicis Canada. The campaign will run until Dec. 25.
