FCB, Humber launch copywriting scholarship

Foote Cone & Belding of Toronto and the Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, also based in Toronto, have created a scholarship for students in the school's media copywriting program. The scholarship includes a cash award and a four-month paid internship at the ad agency for a graduating student. The recipient will be chosen from the participants in the Humber Portfolio Show, which will take place in the spring. "[Humber's] program is unique in Canada, and is probably responsible for producing more great advertising writers than any other," said Robin Heisey, executive vice-president and creative director at FCB. "We've been hiring Humber graduates for years, and this scholarship is just another way to be involved with the program." The media copywriting program was founded in 1993 as the first full-time Canadian program to train advertising copywriters.
