Peru tourism commission hires Edelman

The Commission for the Promotion of Perú, has retained Edelman as its global public relations agency of record following an agency search and competitive bid process. The commission is the tourism promotion and marketing board of Perú. This is the first time the commission has used an international public relation agency. "We selected Edelman based on their history of successful branding campaigns for tourism clients, their strong travel industry and media contacts and their ability to institute programs on a global level," said Juan Carlos Díaz, acting general manager of PromPerú. Edelman will conduct a public relations campaign intended to raise awareness of and increase tourism to Perú in Canada, US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and U.K. This campaign will be developed in association PR firm Pacific Comunicación Estratégica of Lima, Perú. The Canadian portion of the campaign will be conducted from Edelman's Toronto and Montreal offices. Edelman Canada's program will include a media relations campaign and support for the commission's participation in various tourism industry events.
