Toronto conducts pedestrian safety campaign

The Transportation Services Division of the City of Toronto has begun an advertising campaign encouraging drivers to be more aware of pedestrians. The creative depict a collision between a car and a pedestrian in which only the car has been damaged and the pedestrian left unharmed. The headline reads, "If only." The poster campaign will run on 220 transit shelters and 500 trash bins around the city for five weeks. This is the third year the city has conducted the "We're All Pedestrians" campaign. "The best way to keep our streets safe is for everyone to be courteous and cautious at all times and this advertising campaign reminds everyone of that," said Transportation Services general manager Gary Welsh. "If the streets are safe for pedestrians, they're safe for everyone." The advertising campaign is also supported by the Toronto Police Service and the city's Pedestrian Committee.
