CanWest MediaWorks moves broadcast marketing into four brand groups

Toronto-based CanWest MediaWorks has reorganized its broadcast marketing operations into four brand groups based in four cities. The Global brand group is based in Toronto, the CH group is located in Calgary, the News group is in Vancouver and the Specialty group is based in Winnipeg. Each of these groups is responsible for marketing their brand nationally. In addition, an expanding media planning and buying operation has been created in Toronto. "By focusing our attention on a brand basis, CanWest MediaWorks will achieve the country's leadership position in broadcast marketing," said Walter Levitt, the company's senior vice-president of broadcast marketing. "This strategic approach will allow us to concentrate on refining and defining our enviable broadcast brands and optimize all our internal media resources." According to Levitt, the move is also part of a corporate commitment to develop its regional operations. The reorganization goes into effect today.
