Sponsorship roundup

Electronics company Motorola Canada has signed on as a sponsor of this year's Toronto International Film Festival, which will take place from Sept. 8 to Sept. 17. Motorola will use the sponsorship to promote the idea of mobile video technology. The company is conducting a contest called "MotoReel" for student-made short films as part of its sponsorship. The winning entry will play as a trailer before each film shown during the festival. Motorola has also instituted a program called the "MotoReel Project" to encourage filmmakers to produce mobile movies. Various street-level activities will promote the Motorola Razr V3 BLK cell phone and other products to festival attendees. "Video-capture technology is a popular feature on Motorola handsets and is an important part of our current and future mobile technology development," said Colleen McClure, marketing director at Motorola Canada. "This year's festival provides the perfect opportunity to express our own support for the art and technology of movie-making. Through our sponsorship program, Motorola is interacting directly with up-and-coming talent, current film-makers and passionate film fans, all who share our enthusiasm for film."
