Newcap wins license for Ottawa FM station
By Adnews Staff
Newcap, a subsidiary of Newfoundland Capital Corporation of Dartmouth, NS, has received a license for a second FM radio station in Ottawa from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. The new station, which will air alternative rock music, is expected to begin broadcasting this fall. "It was a highly competitive hearing with many credible applicants," said company president Rob Steele. "It is recognition of Newcap Radio's commitment to innovation and serving local communities. This second license perfectly complements our existing station and will enhance our presence in Ontario." Newcap already operates a station called Hot 89.9 FM in Ottawa, which plays contemporary hit music.
