Brown Communications conducts two campaigns in Alberta

Brown Communications Group of Calgary has recently completed a public education campaign for Planned Parenthood Alberta. The effort was aimed at Alberta young people between the ages of 15 and 19. It portrayed the organization as a place where they can get information about sex-related services, testing, counseling and products. The campaign made use of television and radio commercials, plus transit advertising, posters and stickers. Also, a website was constructed at <http://www.wontgetweird.com>. The creative used the copy, "If you have questions about sex, you can talk to us, we won't get weird."
In related news, Brown has also recently undertaken a campaign for the Alberta Mental Health Board to promote May as Mental Health Awareness Month. This campaign, called "Be Kind," is also aimed at the youth of the province in the range of 15 to 18 years. The intent of the effort is to encourage young people to get involved in activities that will improve self-esteem and confidence, thereby avoiding more serious problems such as depression, stress and suicidal thoughts. "The campaign is simple, and encourages youth to create a sense of belonging and acceptance for each other through simple acts of kindness like a smile, making eye contact and listening," said Les Kahl, Vice President of Brown in Alberta.
