Young worker safety campaign begins in Nova Scotia

The Halifax-based Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia is preparing a new ad campaign intended to raise awareness of the importance of workplace safety among young people. Two print ads will run in school washrooms, in bars and restaurants and in youth-oriented newspapers. The campaign will also include a radio ad and a website at <http://www.considersafety.ca>. "Too many young Nova Scotians get hurt every summer. We need to make them more aware of safe behaviour on the job," said board CEO Nancy MacCready-Williams. "The ads are provocative but our research shows that this is what it takes to cut through the clutter and engage young people in a meaningful way. By making them aware of safety now as they enter the workforce, we are creating lifelong safe workers." The campaign will begin this week and run through June.
