By Adnews Staff
Columbia Brewery, based in Creston, BC, has begun a contest to find a new "Glacier Girl" to appear in television commercials for Kokanee beer. Three open auditions will take place at bars in Kelowna, Vancouver and Whistler in late November and early December. Twelve finalist will compete for the grand prize in Vancouver on Dec. 9. Entrants will be judged on athleticism, attitude and acting ability. The winner will represent "the young woman who best represents B.C.'s active lifestyle," according to the company. The winner will receive an acting contract to appear in new Kokanee Glacier Girl ads that will break in western Canada in March 2005. The campaign, created by Grip, will depict a forest ranger, a sidekick called Arnold and the contest winner attempting to capture a Sasquatch. "Kokanee ads are some of the beer industry's most popular and memorable and this opportunity to star in them is an exciting opportunity for any aspiring actor," said Dave McAnerney, brewery manager at Columbia.
