AWARD SHOW ROUND UP

The 55th annual Advertising & Design Club of Canada award show took place last week in Toronto. Approximately 400 awards were distributed to recognize exceptional work in advertising, design and interactive media. Target Marketing & Communications won two gold awards for Irving Oil campaigns in radio categories. In the television categories, BBDO Canada won two golds for work done for Pepsi-Cola Canada. DDB Canada took a gold for an Elections Ontario commercial. Extreme Group received a gold award for their campaign for the Nova Scotia Office of Health Promotions. Eleven gold awards were distributed in the print categories: one for Lowe Roche for Mercedes Benz, two for Taxi for the Canadian Film Centre, three for Rethink for Maclean's and the World Wildlife Fund, two for BBDO Canada for Cadillac Fairview, one for TBWA Toronto for Yorkville Sound, and two for DDB Canada for BC Hydro. In the interactive design categories, Taxi won two gold awards for Mini Canada and Diamond + Schmitt Architects. ILeo took a gold award for work done for Zellers. In addition, illustrator and animator Bob Fortier received the Les Usherwood Award for lifetime achievement.
