ROGERS MEDIA TO BUY ASSETS OF TRINITY TELEVISION
By Adnews Staff
Trinity Television of Vancouver has reached an agreement to sell Vancouver over-the-air religious television broadcaster NOWTV and a license for a Winnipeg television service to Rogers Media. NOWTV was licensed by the CRTC in 2000, while the Winnipeg license was issued in 2002. "Rogers is a niche player in television and we are always interested in opportunities to serve underserved segments of the population," said Rogers Broadcasting president Rael Merson. "Since being licensed, undercapitalization has impacted the operation of this station," said Trinity senior vice-president Jeff Thiessen. "We are pleased that Rogers is convinced of the opportunity and is committed to fulfilling our dreams of building these television services." This deal will require CRTC approval.
