AWARD SHOW ROUNDUP

The 2004 Bessies Awards for television advertising took place on May 7. The Nova Scotia Office of Health Promotion won Best Campaign of Show for "Great Reasons to Smoke," created by Extreme Group of Dartmouth, NS. In addition, the three commercials that comprised the campaign each received Gold Spot awards. The Best Single of Show award went to a commercial called "Raymond," created for Mercedes Benz by Lowe Roche of Toronto. This ad also received Best of Series craft awards for writing and cinematography. Campaign Gold Spots were awarded to Labatt Breweries and Downtown Partners DDB, AGF Financial Services and TBWA/Toronto, and Dominion and Rethink. Various ads from these campaigns also received Single Gold Spots, as did Bullying.org and Zig, and the Bessies Awards and Rethink. In addition, Bill Durnan of Cossette received the Spiess lifetime achievement award.
