ROGERS WIRELESS BEGINS NEW NAME CAMPAIGN, TRIVIA CONTEST

Rogers Wireless is promoting its new name with a national advertising campaign. The telecommunications service provider dropped AT&T from its name on Monday. Created by MacLaren McCann of Toronto, the consumer advertising campaign describes Rogers Wireless as "the network leader in Canada." A 30-second television commercial called "Pass It On" broke yesterday, along with newspaper, magazine and outdoor advertising. The campaign uses the tagline, "Your World Right Now." It will run until the end of April. The campaign also includes in-store materials.
In related news, Rogers Wireless will hold a second annual promotion called the "National Gaming Championship TXT2WIN Trivia Challenge" on March 20. The initiative, sponsored by Nokia, will take place at 13 malls nationally. Participants will receive 15 pop-culture trivia questions through their cellular phones. For each correct answer, participants receive an entry into a regional draw for $1,000. Those who answer all the questions correctly will be entered in a draw for the grand prize of $10,000. Representatives from charitable organization Child Find Canada, which Rogers Wireless supports, will be present at the events to distribute information, raise awareness and collect donations.
