TV GUIDE TO DEBUT NEW DESIGN IN MARCH

Television listing publication TV Guide will have a new look as of March 1. The listings book, published by Transcontinental Media of Toronto, will switch to a larger format and include approximately twice as much editorial content. The new format is designed to lie flat when left open and makes use of an extended listing grid which covers programming from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Other enhancements will include more photographs, an alphabetical listing of movies, new columns, and more coverage of talk-show and children's programming. "This is the most significant change to the brand in Canada since the 1950s," said TV Guide publisher Pamela Master. "We doubled the editorial, quadrupled the close-ups and added columns, highlights and opinion, to add value for our readers and to enhance the quality of environment for our advertisers." According to the magazine, TV Guide has 3.6 million readers per issue.
