SUBWAY PROMOTES LOW-CARB WRAPS

Subway Restaurants is using a series of television commercials to promote a new line of low-carbohydrate wraps. The submarine sandwich chain added the wraps to its menus late last year after forming an association with Atkins Nutritionals of Ronkonkoma, NY. Atkins makes a variety of "controlled carbohydrate" products including convenience foods, supplements, baked goods and snacks. The new sandwiches, the Atkins-Friendly Turkey and Bacon Melt and the Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap, are promoted as having 11 grams of net carbs or less. The advertising for the wraps was created by Fallon Worldwide of Minneapolis, MN.
