CANWEST APPOINTS INTERIM CHAIRMAN

CanWest Global Communications has appointed Frank McKenna interim chairman of its board. McKenna replaces company founder Israel Asper, who died on Oct. 7. McKenna has been a director of the company since 1999. He will act as interim chairman until a permanent chairman has been selected. Previously McKenna was previously a member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, leader of the Liberal Party of New Brunswick and Premier of New Brunswick. McKenna retired from politics in 1997 and resumed his former career as a lawyer.
