GAZ METROPOLITAIN BECOMES GAZ METRO

Montreal natural gas distributor Gaz Metropolitain has changed its name to Gaz Métro. The new corporate identity also includes a new slogan: "la vie en blue (life is blue)." According to the company, the colour blue is associated with natural gas. Gaz used Diesel to develop the modifications. Gaz is also reviewing its communications strategy for its residential, commercial, institutional and industrial markets. "We embarked on this process so that people would understand us better, through clear, targeted messages," said Sopie Brochu, vice-president of customer and gas supply. A new advertising campaign for Gaz, also created by Diesel, broke yesterday. The three 30-second television commercials depict a blue natural gas flame. Newspaper and magazine ads are also in use. Gaz will also display the "life is blue" slogan on its vehicles.
