CRTC EXPANDS SUSPENSION OF WINBACK PROMOTIONS
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission has expanded the review of winback promotions it began in January. Winback promotions are used by telephone companies to regain customers who have switched to competitors. Such promotions are also used to retain existing subscribers or encourage subscribers to try additional features. On Jan. 15 the CRTC suspended the consideration of all applications for winback promotions while it conducted a review. Yesterday the suspension was expanded to include applications for promotions aimed at existing customers. Telephone companies have 30 days to change or file their submissions. Public comments can also be filed until that time.
