HEWLETT-PACKARD APPOINTS GLOBAL PR FIRMS

Hewlett-Packard of Palo Alto, CA appointed three global public relations firms on Friday. Burson-Marsteller will handle PR for the company's Enterprise Systems Group and HP Services. Hill & Knowlton has been assigned the account of HP's personal systems group. Porter Novelli will represent the imaging and printing group and handle corporate communications. All three of these agencies have worked for either HP or Compaq prior to the merger of the two companies, according to Hewlett-Packard public relations manager Monica Sarkar. Burson-Marsteller, Hill & Knowlton and Porter Novelli were on a shortlist of approximately a dozen agencies, Sarkar said. Last year Hewlett-Packard hired three agencies to handle its global advertising and media activities. Goodby Silverstein & Partners was assigned worldwide brand advertising development. Publicis Group was assigned products and solutions advertising. Optimedia was assigned worldwide media placement responsibilities.
