EXPEDIA HOLDS PAPER AIRPLANE CONTEST

Toronto-based travel company Expedia Canada will hold a paper airplane contest on Jan. 11, 2003. The competitors will be divided into three categories: family, student and general. The participant from each category whose airplane travels the farthest will win a trip to Mexico. The prize for the family category is a trip for four to Cancun. In the general category the prize is a trip for two to Puerto Vallarta. The winner of the student category will receive a trip for two to Acapulco. The contest is national, excluding Quebec. The Expedia Paper Airplane Event is being promoted online at <http://www.expedia.ca> and through Expedia's electronic newsletter. Sean Shannon, director of marketing for Expedia Canada, said the company is talking with other parties about promoting the event, but nothing is definite yet. Ken Blackburn, the Guinness Book of World Records holder for the longest flight duration of a paper airplane, will attend the event. When registering, contest participants can also indicate that they will attempt to the break his record of 58.82 metres.
