HGTV RENOVATES ON-AIR APPEARANCE
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based specialty channel HGTV will debut a new on-air look when its fall season begins on Sept. 9. The home and garden station describes the changes as a transition from a softer, muted palette to richer, more saturated colours. Each of the channel's thematic programming blocks (design, garden, home improvement and special interest) have been assigned a signature colour (watermelon, lime, tangerine and pear). A new approach to the on-screen layout has resulted in the creation of new menu frames, bumpers, host I.D.'s, back pages and special presentation spots. The work was done in-house by Alliance Atlantis Broadcast Group's Creative Services staff. "In keeping with our audience's interest in renovating and decorating and the evolution of our programming, this contemporary fresh look reflects the design sensibility of our core programs," said David O'Brien, vice-president of creative services at Alliance Atlantis.
