DISCOVERY HEALTH CHANNEL SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH HEALTHY CANADIAN MEDIA GROUP

Alliance Atlantis Communications' Discovery Health Channel has reached an agreement with Healthy Canadian Media Group by which the former will provide programming content and advertising to the latter's PatientDirect TV network. PatientDirect TV screens are located in the waiting rooms of healthcare facilities in Toronto, London, Hamilton, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver. Programming is delivered by the Internet and displayed on televisions in a 20-30 minute loop. "Discovery Health Channel's content is a perfect fit for people who are already in the mindset to receive medical advice," said Jim Johnson, director of advertising and partnership marketing for Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting. The agreement is the second of its kind in as many weeks for Alliance Atlantis. Last week the Toronto-based broadcaster and Montreal-based Air Canada formed an exclusive agreement by which Alliance Atlantis will provide programming from its networks for the airline's flights that are over 90 minutes in length.
