VERITAS HIRED TO HANDLE BIO 2002 CONFERENCE

The Biotechnology Industry Organization of Washington, D.C. has appointed Toronto-based Veritas Communications the public relations agency of record for its BIO 2002 conference. The organization consists of biotechnology companies, academic institutions and biotechnology centres from the U.S. and other countries. Veritas won the assignment over two additional agencies. The organization's annual biotechnology conference will take place from June 9 to June 12 in Toronto. It is expected that 15,000 people from 52 countires will attend the conference, which will offer 150 sessions and symposiums, 800 speakers and 18 program tracks. Public relations for last year's conference, held in San Diego, were handled by a U.S.-based firm.
