KELLOGG CANADA PROMOTES STAR WARS CEREAL, TOYS

Toronto-based Kellogg Canada has created a new Star Wars: Episode II cereal and a series of new Stars Wars toys. Six Star Wars Saga Rubik's Cube puzzles will be distributed in specially marked boxes of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Corn Pops, Raisin Bran and Rice Krispies. Specially marked jumbo boxes of Froot Loops, Corn Pops and Mini-Wheats will include a movie poster depicting the movie's Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker characters on one side and a history of the Stars Wars story and a genealogy of its characters on the other. The new Kellogg's Star Wars cereal will be available for a limited time. It consists of purple and orange oat stars and Clone Trooper helmet-shaped cookies. Loblaw's stores will also carry a special package consisting of two boxes of the new cereal and a life-sized Clone Trooper helmet. Kellogg's Star Wars: Episode II products are being promoted with television and print advertising created by J. Walter Thompson. An English-language 30-second commercial and 15-second tag and a French-language 15-second tag are running nationally. Print advertising is running in Tribute magazine. In-store materials include a life-size cutout of a Clone Trooper. The advertising is being supported with public relations by Media Profile.
