BELL GLOBEMEDIA INTERACTIVE DEBUTS ONLINE VIDEO ADS
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Bell Globemedia Interactive is using a new form of online video advertising on several of its Web sites. Called Clipstream, the technology has been licensed from Vancouver-based Destiny Media Technologies. It can be used in two ways, according to Gary Fearnall, vice-president of sales for Bell Globemedia Interactive. In one way, an ad banner placed on a Web page can trigger streaming video when a user clicks on it. When the video ends the user is taken to an information page. In the second method, the video ad banner begins immediately when a Web page is loaded. Bell Globemedia Interactive is currently using the second method in a campaign for Bell Canada which is running on properties including the <http://www.globeandmail.com.> and <http://www.robtv.com> Web sites. The Clipstream technique has also been used in a campaign for IBM. "The Clipstream playerless streaming technology has allowed us to bring an exciting yet affordable new element to our suite of online advertising delivery tools," said Fearnall. "We are pleased both IBM and Bell have leveraged the technology of Clipstream to reach our audience."
