PAUL SHAFFER BECOMES SPOKESPERSON FOR EPILEPSY CANADA
By Adnews Staff
Musician Paul Shaffer has been named the national spokesperson for Epilepsy Canada. The Montreal-based non-profit organization works to improve the quality of life for those living with the neurological disorder and their families. Epilepsy Canada also supports epilepsy research, directs a number of programs to educate the public about epilepsy and works to protect the rights of people living with the disorder. As spokesperson Shaffer will seek to raise awareness of epilepsy and Epilepsy Canada and educate Canadians about the difficulties those living with epilepsy face. A new awareness campaign called "Out of the Shadows" will also aim to increase public awareness of epilepsy. The campaign began on Friday in conjunction with the start of National Epilepsy Awareness Month. Posters and other promotional materials created pro bono by Montreal-based BDDS Weber Shandwick depict a blooming red tulip. According to Epilepsy Canada, the image represents the passage from shadows to light or from silence to action.
