PLASTICS COUNCIL HOLDS HEADGEAR CONTEST

The Environment and Plastics Industry Council of Mississauga is holding a contest in association with Safe Kids Canada to communicate to children the importance of wearing protective headgear during sporting or recreational activities. Called "Play Safe with Plastics and Win", the contest invites elementary school students to design a poster that would convince friends or family members to wear a helmet when needed. EPIC has redesigned its teacher-oriented Web site at <http://www.plastics.ca/teachers> for the contest. The site contains rules and entry forms as well as material designed to help teachers address the subject of plastics in the classroom. The contest closes at the end of April. The winners will be announced during Safe Kids Week, June 3 to 9. One entrant from each province and territory will win a prize package including a new bicycle and helmet. EPIC is an industry group that promotes the responsible use and recovery of plastic resources. Safe Kids Canada is a national injury prevention program run by the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
