AMMIRATI PURIS DROPS SEARS CANADA
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Ammirati Puris has resigned the account of Sears Canada. The agency did not give any specific reasons for the move, citing only a review of strategic goals. "Since joining Ammirati Puris last month, I've worked very closely with our management team on a thorough review of our business," said president and CEO Neil Everett. "We've undertaken some very significant changes over the past month, not the least of which was the conclusion of our Labatt Breweries of Canada business. Ammirati Puris decided that this is the right time for us to move in a new direction. The decision to end our relationship with Sears Canada was not an easy one." Last week the agency lost the accounts of both Labatt and Canada Bread Co. A story in The Globe and Mail on Wednesday reported that Sears Canada had given Ammirati Puris until the end of November to complete certain work, and had already moved some work to John Street, an agency founded by former Ammirati staff.
