MSN.CA CAMPAIGNS FOR MSN MONEY
By Adnews Staff
Microsoft Web site MSN.CA will break a new advertising campaign on Monday to promote MSN Money, a financial information resource that launched in July. The six-week national television campaign includes two spots which portray humorous situations in which poor financial decision have been made. The first spot, called "The Golfinator", shows a middle-aged man opening a large box that cost $1,599.99 to be delivered to his home. In his backyard the man is strapped into large golf-swing machine. The spot ends with the voiceover, "Just because you're not always smart with your money, doesn't mean you can't be mostly smart with your money." In the second spot, called "Waffles", a man is watching a shopping channel which is selling a chrome waffle maker with a built in clock that costs $799.99 or 24 payments of $33.33. The spot ends with the same voiceover. An online promotion called the "MSN Money Challenge" is beginning in conjunction with the ad campaign. The contest allows Canadians to test their money management skills to win $10,000 in cash. Marketing support will include radio ads in Toronto, online advertising on MSN.CA, major portals and special interest Web sites, and a TV billboard on Global's fall preview program. These ads will direct Canadians to the site, where they can enter the contest. Advertising for MSN is done by MacLaren McCann. Public relations are handled by Hill and Knowlton.
