YFACTOR EYES WINNER OF COMMUNITY PROGRAM
By Adnews Staff
Internet services firm Yfactor, based in Brampton, ON, has named Calgary-based Operation Eyesight Universal the 2001 winner of the firm's YCommunity Cares program. The annual initiative awards Canadian non-profit and charitable organizations a professionally designed Web site valued at $20,000. Operation Eyesight funds, develops and encourages blindness prevention and sight restoration programs. Its new Web site will provide information on blindness prevention, allow visitors to make donations online, track overseas projects where the donations are spent, purchase customized greeting cards, provide educational materials, allow volunteers to log their hours and help Canadians to recycle their used eyeglasses by directing them to local collection boxes. The site should be in operation before the end of the year. Each year Yfactor invites submissions from Canadian organizations. The winner is selected based on the worthiness of the cause, the value of the Web site to the advancement of the cause and the potential for creative and technological innovation on the project.
